Dr.P. Vadamalayan, our founder and a great visionary devoted his life to public service and to the health care service for the people down south Tamil Nadu. He started his selfless and tireless medical service in early 1930. He practiced “Evidence-based medicine” to provide ethical, timely, and effective treatment for the ailing people from all over south Tamilnadu. A 10 bedded clinic at the palace road, Madurai with modern equipment (like 300 MA X-Ray Machine, an unknown entity at that time) was a boon to the people in and around Madurai at that period.
Dr.Vadamalayan was a doyen among medical professionals of yesteryears. His meritorious service in health care was acknowledged aptly by the “Rao Bahadur Award”.
He was an honorary surgeon till retirement at the Government Erskine hospital – and consultant visiting surgeon till his lifetime.
