Conceptualised in the year 2004 as a philanthropic initiative for the Eastern and North-Eastern parts of India and the neighboring countries, the Tata Medical Center (TMC) started operations in Kolkata on May 16, 2011. The hospital is governed by a charitable trust – Tata Medical Center Trust, established in the year 2005. The Trust has been mandated with the task of governing operations of the Tata Medical Center. Comprising of a panel of distinguished people, the Trust also has the mandate to encourage the study, research, and training in the field of Oncology.
